For the Acceptance of Prayer

O Lord our God, accept the fervent prayers of your people; in the multitude of your mercies, look with compassion upon us and all who turn to you for help; for you are gracious, O lover of souls, and to you we give glory, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, now and for ever. Amen.

This prayer for the reception of Christians from other traditions into the Anglican Communion weaves together two elements from the 1979 Episcopal Book of Common Prayer, fused by the ACNA's 2019 prayer book into a single petition: the "Strengthen, O Lord" confirmation prayer and the ecumenical formula recognizing the candidate's prior membership in the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church.
