Psalm 3
A Psalm of David, when he fled from Absalom his son.
Lord, how they are increased who trouble me; many are those who rise against me.
Many there are who say of my soul, “There is no help for him in his God.”
But you, O Lord, are my defender; you are my glory, and the one who lifts up my head.
I called upon the Lord with my voice, and he heard me from his holy hill.
I lay down and slept, and rose up again, for the Lord sustained me.
I will not be afraid of ten thousands of the people who have set themselves against me round about.
Rise up, O Lord, and help me, O my God; for you smite all my enemies on the cheek-bone; you have broken the teeth of the ungodly.
Salvation belongs to the Lord; may your blessing be upon your people.
